Okay, after reading the other bios and posts I feel like I can open up a little. Don't make me regret this! :-)
After high school I started Samford University with the dream of one day graduating law school and having my own law firm. Started working at SONAT a couple of years later and married Joseph in '93. Nothing worked out quite like I planned and Joseph and I divorced in '95. For what it's worth, which probably isn't much, I really do regret everything that Joseph and I went through.
Went into a wicked depression after the divorce - couldn't eat, couldn't work, and basically just wanted to cease my existence. Was diagnosed with chronic low-level depression and social anxiety disorder (that explained a lot!) and after brief counseling and finding the right medication, I realized it was possible for me to be a happy, well-adjusted, half-way normal adult! (I'm still addicted to low-fat strawberry pop tarts and anything Law and Order but I can live with that!)
Met the love of my life during this time and somehow he fell in love with me too (the why remains a mystery) and we were married in Nov. of '96 in Connecticut. I'll say one thing about living in the Northeast - don't do it!
Became a step-mom to a really cool little boy and started doing the school pick up, baseball practice, never have a free Saturday kind of thing and enjoying it. Then came the year 1999, or as Bob and I call it, The Year From Hell. In a nutshell here are the events of that year: in Feb. I found out I was pregnant with our first child the same day my maternal grandmother died. In April Bob severely injured a finger while working on our kitchen remodel. In May his maternal grandmother died. In August our first son, Trent William Cantu, was born and died just seconds after his delivery. In Sept. a cousin of mine was shot and killed in NC, and in Oct. Bob's mother had a heart attack. Fortunately she is still with us and doing well. By the grace of God we survived that year and in 2001 we had another beautiful little boy, Trevor. After Matt graduated from high school we returned to Alabama and Matt started his college career at Auburn. He graduated this past August and is a 2nd Lt. in the Army and living with us while working at UAB until he leaves in Nov. to finish his officer training. Needless to say we are very proud of him. I have an amazingly wonderful husband who works hard so I can stay home and home school Trevor and we love every minute of it. Okay, maybe not EVERY minute but most of the time it's a good thing!
So, there's my life in a nutshell. And what have I learned from all this - God is good, no matter what we put ourselves through or what we go through and He will bless us whether we deserve it or not.
