Um, this is a little strange. I don't know who's going to be reading this, but what the hell. It was wierd looking at all those names again. I wasn't able to make our 10 year reunion, because I was teaching English in Japan that summer, and I didn't have enough money to get back to Alaska. Sad, really.

Anyway, heres the rundown. After I graduated from DHS, I immediately went into college, at UAA. Where else? I studied theatre for about 3 years, and realized my talents and interests were elsewhere. I graduated from UAA with a Journalism degree in 1998, and after a few months of fruitless job hunting, I took off across the US of A on the Greyhound, in search of adventure, mayhem, etc... I returned about 5 months later, and went to work for KENI NewsRadio, and freelanced for the Anchorage Press. On the strength of that, I got an internship in San Fransisco, at the Bay Guardian (one of the coolest papers ever), and moved in the summer of 1999. But before I offically moved to San Fran, I took ANOTHER trip around the country, and up into Canada with my friend Eric Johnston (DHS class of 1993. He would be my roommate later, in Japan.) We bussed it all over hell and back, and at the end of the road was San Francisco. I stayed there for a year, and after my internship was over, I moved back to Alaska. Eric and I were planning our Far East trip, and I needed money to it. SF was really expensive. Dot-com boom and all that.

SO, we ended up going to Japan on Christmas Day 2000, and stayed there until April 2002. Eric stayed longer, to be with his then girlfriend. She's australian, none of us Alaskans would know her.)

I moved down here to Austin to go to Grad School at the University of Texas, in the James Michener Writing Program. I didnt get in. But, I'm still writing. Its only thing that keeps me sane. Ha ha.

I met my soon to be wife, Leigh, at my day job at Barnes and Noble, a couple weeks after i moved to Austin, and we're getting married next month in Seattle!

I dont suppose theres a whole lot more to tell. I miss Alaska a lot. I run the Austin Zine Library, a library of small press/self-published magazines (www.austinzinelibrary.org) , I write short stories, journalism, and publish a literary magazine, Twenty-Four Hours. And on top of all of this, I'm working a second job at a Starbucks to help pay off the enormous personal debt I've accrued. Credit cards, natch.
