Today's Featured Biography
Thavadech Srikoon
After Misawa, I spent quality time with my parents in Okinawa for a year then joined the Air Force as a cook, blah! Though I love cooking, in 2003 I retrained into AWACS as an Airborne Comm Tech. I help safeguard our country from 30,000 ft.
I met the love of my life, Terri, at my first duty station, Altus AFB, OK. She gave me Ashley in '92 and Alex in '95. Love and marriage are like institutions; they require lots of hard work and devotion. As long as she's devoted, I'll keep working hard so she won't have to. Guys, if you want to be treated like a king, you've got to treat her like a queen.
I'm very proud of both my children. Ashley, now 18, has applied for the AF Academy and hopes to find a future in medicine. Alex aspires to be a pilot, a young man after my own heart.
We are currently living in Belgium and assigned to SHAPE; the HQ for NATO's military arm. Here, I fly a desk and oversee the configuration management of Tactical Data Links and airborne comms for NATO AWACS. Throughout the short 20-year span in the Air Force, I've seen 25 countries within 5 PCS' and over 60 TDYs & deployments. I have yet to visit Australia and don't think I need to see Antarctica. I'll stay in the military until the Air Force kicks me out or till it is no longer fun.
I've taken my sweet time pursuing my degree. I was having too much fun being deployed. I'm within two classes of completing a B.S. in Management in Computers and Information Systems through Park University Online. I should be done this summer.
I've been saving up to get myself a little graduation gift; a BMW 335D (Blue Diesel technology).
If the stars are aligned just right, two good things will happen within the next two months: 1st; There is a strong possibility I win "SNCO-of-the-Year Award" for the second year consecutively, and second; I will be selected for promotion to SMSgt, results are released on 3 March 2011. Cross some fingers for me!
