MaryLamb Bond Lucas
AM RETIRED FROM JUNGIAN ORIENTED PSYCHOTHERAPY FROM 1994 UNTIL 2014 WHEN MY SON TOOK HIS OWN LIFE. LIVED OUTSIDE OF RICHMOND, VIRGINIA FROM 1964 UNTIL 2006 WHEN, POST DIVORCE, I MOVED TO EDWARDS, COLORADO, WHICH IS 13 MILES FROM VAIL, COLORADO.
MY FORMER HUSBAND, JOE LUCAS, AND I HAD FIVE CHILDREN, OUR SON, TRIP (HIS NICKNAME), AND TWO SETS OF TWIN GIRLS. WE RAISED THEM IN RICHMOND, VA, FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND THEN MOVED TO CROZIER, VA, ONTO WHAT HAD BEEN A DAIRY FARM. THE KIDS COMMUTED INTO RICHMOND TO SCHOOL WITH THEIR FATHER WHEN HE WENT TO WORK EACH DAY.
JOE AND I DIVORCED AFTER 29 YEARS. I MOVED TO A SMALLER PLACE, BUT STILL IN THE COUNTRY NEAR THE FARM. THEN, IN 2006, I MOVED TO COLORADO - WITH THE KIDS' PERMISSION AND BLESSINGS, OF COURSE. THEY LIKE COMING TO VISIT ME HERE.
OUR SON, TRIP, TOOK HIS OWN LIFE IN 2014 AND I HAVE WRITTEN A MEMOIR IN HIS HONOR THAT WAS JUST PUBLISHED IN JUNE OF 2024. IT IS "THE TRIP OF MY LIFE" AND AVAILABLE ON AMAZON. NOW, I AM IN THE PROCESS OF FINISHING A CHILDREN'S BOOK AND AM STARTING A NOVEL THAT HAD BEEN SLOSHING AROUND IN MY MIND FOR YEARS.
I ENJOY SKIING EACH WINTER, WHICH, ABOUT ONCE A WEEK INVOLVES WHAT'S CALLED "SKINNING" UPHILL ON SKIS. I HAVE FRIENDS WHO ENJOY THAT, TOO. I ALSO HIKE, RIDE MY ROAD BIKE, PLAY SOME TENNIS AND AM JUST STARTING TO TRY PICKLE BALL. MY FOUR DAUGHTERS ARE A BIT SCATTERED, TWO IN VIRGINIA NEAR CHARLOTTESVILLE, ONE IN NORTH CAROLINA, AND ONE IN WISCONSIN.
