Today's Featured Biography
Fred Noer
I work as a writer, editor, photographer.
Hobbies and interests: motorsports (especially drag racing), literature, art, spirituality, social psychology, nature, and music (especially jazz, blues, and progressive rock).
After high school I attended UW-Rock County (in Janesville), Kenosha Technical Institute (now Gateway Technical College in Kenosha), and UW-Whitewater, from which I graduated in 1978. In 1980 I married and at the same time became the father of Jason and Carrie, whom I adopted a year later. (I divorced in 1991.) Also in 1980 I became the owner, editor, and publisher of The Times weekly newspaper in Walworth that was in my family for the most part since 1957. (We came to the Walworth-Fontana area in early 1957 from Indianapolis, where I was born.) After selling the paper in late 1986, I served as editor of Lake Geneva magazine for a year and Shopper Sunday (now called Walworth County Sunday) for six years before embarking on my current freelancing career.
My greatest accomplishments have been nurturing the lives of my children and making differences in people’s lives through my articles and photographs.
My travels have taken me to the Midwestern states, California, and some in the South, primarily to view and report on drag races. In August 1978 I motored to Montana, and my January 2003 road trip consisted of going as far west as Wyoming before heading south to New Mexico and back home. On both occasions I visited friends and did photography.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
