ERIC HOWARD
Staff Sergeant Howard is serving with Food Service Company, CLR-27, Second Marine Logistics Group.
Eric J. Howard was born in Cudahy, Wisconsin on November 04, 1972. On 10 November 1992 he enlisted in the Marine Corps and attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), San Diego, CA. Upon completion, he received the title of United States Marine. On February 1993 he reported to Marine Combat Training School (MCT), School of Infantry (SOI) at Camp Pendleton, CA upon completion he received orders to Camp Johnson, North Carolina. On March 1993 he attended Basic Food Service School and received the Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) Food Service Specialist (3381). Staff Sergeant Howard then received orders to Third Battalion, Third Marine Division at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Corporal Howard served as a Food Technician and Assistant Chief Cook at Pless Hall and Anderson Hall (mess halls).
On 09 September 1996 Corporal Howard was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps. Upon separating, he returned to Shawano, Wisconsin. He was employed at Heritage Veneer Product; A Department of Owens Forestry Products, Based out of Minnesota. He operated these various machines: Gang Rip Saw, Veneer Press, Band Saw, and Plainer
On 29 November 1998 Lance Corporal Howard re-enlisted in the Marine Corps and reported to Headquarters and Support Battalion (HQ & Svc Bn), First Service Support Group (1stFSSG) at Camp Pendleton, CA. He served as the Bakery NCOIC, a Food Technician and an Assistant Chief Cook at the Twenty Two Area Mess Hall.
On 12 April 2000 Corporal Howard received orders to Ground Safety Collateral School at Camp Pendleton, California and received the Additional Military Occupation Specialty (AMOS) Ground Safety Technician (9956). Upon completion he reported back to HQ & Svc Bn S-4, 1stFSSG. He served and was assigned the following collateral duties 12/14 Area Facilities Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC), Billeting NCOIC and Safety NCOIC.
On 13 May 2002 Sergeant Howard reported to the Fourteen Area Mess Hall, HQ & SVC BN 1st FSSG. On 22 November 2002 he began a seven month deployment in support of Operation Internal Look, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as the Food Service Chief, Police Sergeant, and an Engineer.
On 21 October 2003 Sergeant Howard received orders to Weapons Field Training Battalion (WFTB) School at Camp Pendleton, California. Upon completion he received the AMOS's of Marksmanship Coach (8530) and Primary Marksmanship Instructor (PMI), (8531). He received orders to Marksmanship Training Unit (MTU), HQ & SVC BN 1stFSSG. He served as a Primary Marksmanship Instructor and an MTU Chief.
On 03 April 2005 Sergeant Howard received orders to Drill Instructors School at MCRD San Diego, California. Upon completion he received the AMOS of Drill Instructor (0911/8511). On 08 August 2005 he attended Marine Combat Instructor of Water Survival School at Coronado, California he received the AMOS of Marine Combat Instructor of Water Survival (MCIWS), (8563). On 22 May 2006 he received the AMOS Substance Abuse Counselor Officer (SACO/8538). On 11 April 2007 Staff Sergeant Howard received Orders to Support Bn S-4 RTR and received the Billet Military Occupation Specialty (BMOS) of Logistics Chief (8014). He served as a Drill Instructor for Lima Company, 3rd RTBn Routing SNCOIC/SACO/Logistics Chief and RTR Logistics Chief.
On 23 July 2008 Staff Sergeant Howard received Orders to Food Service Company, CLR-27, 2ND MLG. He currently serves as the CLR-27’s Field Mess Staff Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge.
Staff Sergeant Howard's personal awards include the Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Drill Instructor Ribbon, and Four Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals. SSgt Howard and his family reside on the Marine Corps Air Station New River, Jacksonville, North Carolina.
