I recieved my bachelors degree, Majors in Chemistry & Mathematics, University of Wisconsin in 1980. Between 1981 and 1986 I remained at the University on research staff.
I recieved my Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, from the University of Chicago in 1991.
I was a Post Doctoral Research fellow in Biophysics & Biochemistry at the University of Michigan from 1991 to 1994. Following my fellowship at U of M, I held faculty positions at the University of Detroit & Wayne State University.
Currently, I am a Professor of Chemistry at the University of West Georgia, a position I have held since 1996. My research interest focuses on applying time-resolved laser spectroscopy to study chemical dynamics, and biophysical processes (such as protein folding and photosynthesis). I have mostly taught upper division courses, which include Quantum Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Biochemistry, Physical Biochemistry, and Instrumental Analysis.
Over the years I have greatly enjoyed teaching and research. The satisfaction I receive from my work lie in the many students I have taught and mentored that have gone on to accomplish amazing things.
They are out in the world changing it in positive ways, and I am very proud of them!
While I was still living in Madison, I met my wife Susan (a '74' graduate of Madison West High and graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing). We were married in 1983.
Susan developed her expertise in Critical Care Medicine. She has practiced at Methodist Hospital in Madison, the University of Chicago Hospitals (Bernard-Mitchell), and the University of Michigan Hospitals. For the last twelve years she has worked on the Cardiac ICU unit at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta. Currently, she is President of the Nursing Council at St. Joseph's.
Our son Kaj (pronounced Ky) was born a Wolverine. He enjoys competitive swimming, plays French horn in the school band, and violin in the youth civic orchestra. His academic interests lie in Physics, Math & Geography. In 2007, he won the Georgia National Geographic Bee, and placed 11th in the National Bee. This summer, as a 14-year old, he was invited by the university's Department of Continuing Education to teach a geography class to junior high students.
Our favorite family activity is backpacking, especially exploring the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest or the Canadian Rockies. However, time usually limits us to making it to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
