Today's Featured Biography
Elizabeth Zeier Gauldin
I will forever remember a class outing to Janesville... for the life of me I cannot recall the purpose of the class trip but know I sat next to Janice Zawacki on the bus. I recall thinking how unattractive and dull Janesville appeared and commented “I would never want to live here”... Well, 40 years later I am still here. It’s a pretty city and by-no-means a dull community since we frequently make the news.
After 32 years in the foodservice distribution industry I retired in 2010 and returned to school graduating with a degree in sign language interpreting. My work was sales and marketing, sales management, and sales training. My new career as an independent sign language interpreter for the Deaf allows me a great flexible work schedule.
Sadly, I lost my husband Wayne to melanoma on 9/11/2013 ten days after diagnosis. Together we cared for my mother, age 89 who continues to live with me and I continue to care for.
Our family consisted of Lisa and Laura in Janesville, Donna in Philadelphia, Scott and Gary in Richmond VA, (8) grandsons, (7) grand-daughters, (3) great-grandsons, and a great-grand-daughter due to arrive on June 19th. Blended families are wonderful! We love them all equally. I love our kids but I LOVE our 18 grandchildren. I am a baby-sitter, provide taxi-service to Faith Formation, volleyball and basketball courts, Lacrosse and football fields, baseball diamonds, karate and Lego competition… I’m all over Wisconsin, Philadelphia, and Virginia. GOD has blessed me and with good health.
My hobbies in my younger days were boating and aviation including a three year term as President of the Janesville’s Southern Wisconsin AirFEST and now it’s all about genealogy and traveling. I have been bitten by the genealogy-family tree bug and I publish nothing unless I can prove it. I spend summers in grave yards recording names and statistics between Wisconsin and Virginia.
I have not been to a reunion for 40 years and look forward to reconnecting.
