Today's Featured Biography
Shawn Duffin Skurky
I am a registered nurse, having worked in both the educational and practice arenas for 46 years. I lived 28 years in the Four Corners area including Durango, Colorado and Northern New Mexico. Any spare time was spent skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and camping. My children grew up skiing on the slopes of the Colorado mountains.
I obtained my MS in Community Health Nursing from the University of Colorado and my Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Population Health from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. I am currently a Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Nursing for the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I spend my summers volunteering as a camp nurse for Camp Kesem, a national organization for children who have a parent with cancer or lost a parent to cancer. This takes me to various camps throughout the United States, which is a wonderful way to see our country while volunteering for a great cause.
I have 3 wonderful children, all with exciting lives outside of Wisconsin. I enjoy traveling to visit them when ever I can. I also enjoy reading novels, movies, skiing, hiking, fishing, and most anything that takes me outdoors.
Retirement? No plans as of yet but plan on moving back to my house waiting for me in Northwestern NM when I finally do.
