Jim Landers
Hello to Everyone:
I have been retired from Chelan Co PUD for 13 years. We lived in an RV for over six years, did a lot of traveling, and finally settled in Ocean Shores. I love to fly kites, spend a lot of time on the beach, compete with other flyers that belong to American Kiteflyers Assn, and have been to the Nationals three times. This year the Nationals will be held at Seaside Oregon in mid-October.
I also did a lot of trap shooting from Prince Rupert, BC to Chapel Hill, Tennessee, and lots of places in-between. I love to play pool, spend two afternoons a week in tournament here in Ocean Shores and at Copalis Beach. Most of the people in the area around here are retired, so we have lots of company. My wife spends lots of time volunteering me for this and that. I have been in the local Quilting Club, even served as President for a year. They asked me to be Vice Pres. and that there would be nothing to do. But the Pres. quit the first month in office, so guess what-the only man and President. I have recently been volunteered to take a boat load of Master Gardeners on a tour of the Lake and Canals to see what can't be seen from the road. Thalia, my wife also said "Jim would love to help at the Church". This turned out to be on the Pastoral Council, which is another one of those 'nothing jobs'.
We had a house built for us three years ago. We drew up the plans and had our noses in everything that was done. It turned out great and we are very happy here. We have a very nice yard that leads to the canal and dock. Thalia likes to garden, so I have lots of work in the yard. She also has four chickens in the front yard - questionable if legal or not! Also we have a cat and dog, which keeps us from going too far from home.
Thalia and I are both in good health and hope to stay that way. We have been married for 53 years, three years ago we had our vows renewed here on the dock; the minister would not do it on a year to year basis. We have 4 children of our own and raised 2 foster girls, one for nine years and one for twelve, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. We also are called Grandma and Grandpa by several kids here and there. The little colored boy up the street even calls me Grandpa - don't know what to say.
As you can see, I am as bashful, quiet and shy as ever, and a man of few words (could keep on for hours). Bye for Now.
