Today's Featured Biography
Mari Yantis Evans
Since graduation five decades of my life has passed filled with education, careers, activities, travel, a marriage which lasted 26 years, family and friends. Education, for me, started right after graduating and continued through graduate degrees in Art, Art Education, and general Education. This led to teaching 4th grade, Art Elementary Specialist (both in Yelm School District), and a professor in both undergraduate and graduate courses (UPS, Western U, and City U). While working I was involved as a leader or participant in WA State, Pacific Region, National and International Art Education organizations and art’s assessment. My experiences included US travel and visiting Canada, Japan, China, and Egypt. This fed right into my love of cultures and travel, where last year I completed visiting all 50 states and most National Parks. Another of my passions is creating and enjoying art which has brought me to over 100 Art Museums in 51 countries and working with watercolors, pastels, and pottery. Today I have moved back to the Yantis Land Grant in the Skookumchuck Valley, where I enjoy family and friends, travel and give back to the community as a Tenino Park Commissioner and board member to Tenino Depot Museum. Looking forward to renewing friendships and reminiscing on September 12th.
