Today's Featured Biography
Sara Voyles Massey
I graduated from OHHS in 1989. In 1992 I married Paul Massey, class of 1986. We have three children Samantha (20), Ian (14), and Abigail (11). I'm a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Magnum Cum Laude) with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics. Shortly after I graduated Paul was sent overseas to Afghanistan in 2002 and was gone for 18 months. Shortly after Paul returned I was offered a job in Washington DC representing over 300 airports on Capitol Hill. I never thought of myself as ever being a Bureaucrat or a member of the 'political scene', but I quickly found myself as just that—a Bureaucrat who was entrenched in the political scene. My area of expertise was National Aviation Security and as you can imagine I was extremely busy. No, I did not work for DHS/TSA; however, I did work with them and the FBI in trying to find resolutions to security issues airports faced on a daily basis that is not only efficient and effective, but in the best interest of commerce and maintaining growth and confidence in a very fragile industry.
In 2006 Paul received orders to Iraq, so I left my job in DC and moved to FL. After two years in Iraq he finally returned home safe and reitred in Feb. 2009. I decided to explore different careers and found one that I've grown to love, consulting as an airport planner. I'm a Senior Aviation Planner/Grants Administrator for an Engineering/Consulting firm in Northeast Florida.
Our oldest, Samantha, is a Junior attending college in North Carolina. She is an amazing artist and what time she doesn't spend in the pool, she spends drawing, painting, shooting pictures, and sketching. Our son, Ian, has become quite the marksman on a variety of weapons, he also enjoys basketball and lacross, but only when he can tear himself away from the video games. Our youngest daughter, Abigail, is the most energetic, easy going little girl anyone could ask for. She also loves sports, basketball being her favorite, but lacross seems to be becoming a favorite as well.
