Today's Featured Biography
Shawn Slaven
I can't believe it has been almost 30 years! I spent the first 9+ years out of high school moving around of sorts. I had always been intrigued in nomadic lifestyles and felt a calling. I had many odd jobs both on and off of the streets. I ended up in Montreal where I met Snadga, a Swahilian who saved my soul. I moved to Africa for a few years with Snadga, but immediately felt bored and out of sorts. I came back to the States and had another calling for Wyoming. Wanting to conquer my pathological fear of horses (and other large animals), I decided to go into blacksmithing. I worked at my trade and my art 72 miles due East of Jackson Hole (where I called home). On my first call to a farm for some "real" work, I was kicked in the face by a draft horse. I lost a great deal of teeth and have only recently (early 2000's) had them replaced both with implants and dentures. After this traumatic incident, I gave up Blacksmithing and moved back to the Seattle area. After being in Seattle for a bit and working at Microsoft, I moved to Sweden to be the Nordic and Baltic Procurement Manager, traveling weekly to Norway, Finland, Denmark, Lithuania or Estonia. Very interesting time in my life. I then once again came back to Seattle to settle down. That lasted about 3 years when I left Microsoft to go to NYC to work at 60 Wall Street for Deutsche Bank. I was in Frankfurt and London for much of that time. After two years, I came back once again to Seattle to then move to London where I worked on European Union Regulations for Contingent Workers, predominantly for the UK and France. It is now 2012 and I am now back at Microsoft in a Sr. Business Development role for our Cloud proposition in the Global Foundation Services Division. I have earned my MBA and written a book called "Twelve Minutes Flat". In my spare time I have been investing in real estate, racing Porsches (latest has been a 2009 Cayman), and trying to save the world. I am a proud mother of my dogs Tux and MacTavish, a proud Auntie and a staunch democrat where I believe everyone has a "right" - whatever that "right" may be. As of 2012 I have worked at Microsoft for 13 years total. I look forward to seeing everyone in 2014! If you see this, drop me a line at [email protected] or [email protected]. Cheers to all!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
