60 Year Reunion Announcement!

The NHS Class of 1964 Reunion Committee is reviewing plans for our BIG Banner Year 60th class reunion on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, between 5-11 pm. Our venue will tentatively be the grand MacArthur Inn. Innkeeper Allen Neely has offered us a $200 bargain for use of the kitchen, dining room, and lounge. We're saving catering money by providing our own food. Dress will be semi-formal - cute dresses and 3-piece suits. I will be mailing out RSVP postcards soon so we can ascertain an accurate attendance. More information will follow as the date nears - so use this site, Face Book, telephone, or email for updates. New ideas are always welcomed!

After graduating from Appalachian State University (Boone, NC) in 1968 with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies, I moved to Anderson, SC, where I was employed by Anderson School District 5. I worked at Southwood Middle School until retiring at the end of the 2001-2002 school year. I returned that autumn as a substitute at the request of my former principal. I also volunteered there. I "totally" retired when the school closed - and am loving it! While teaching, I spent my summers either attending classes for re-certification and/or advancement - or, in traveling. So far, I have visited every state except four and much of Canada. My goal is all 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces. I love seeing the country and meeting the people who live there. I plan my own trips and have done so for several of my friends. Although I have never married - I have a "niece" and a "nephew" to whom I am very close. Their late mother was one of my closest friends. Russell is a career Naval officer, married, and father of two. Karen is a nurse, also married, and is expecting her first child in June. I am still an avid reader and still do a little writing - though not as much as I once did. For a while, I was involved in dog shows but stopped when I lost my dog. I still love science fiction and enjoy attending SciFi conventions. I also attend a number of Native American Pow Wows. I try to keep up with anthropology and paleontology - and hope to be taking a course in either - or both - soon. I enjoy needlepoint and cross stitch but - have done little sewing in the past decade or so. I am currently in the middle of renovating my house.
