Today's Featured Biography
Mary Brown
With my best friends Tonya Broome-Culpepper and Tina Skerl, I left for Ogden summer of 87.
We shared a 3 bedroom apartment. Tina and I worked in Pizza Hut and Tonya was pregnant with her first baby - Cade.
Rick Mullinax, Eric Morrow, Theron Murphy and Kenny McCoy (?) lived down the street. We often had visitors I remember Stacy Reynolds and Arliss McKee visiting for a crazy night.
I was extremely disappointed when I wasn't accepted into the AirForce for a minor infraction. Looking back, it was one of the best things that could've happened.
I was a nanny in NJ, and Tina Skerl joined me for a summer. I was also a nanny in Philadelphia, and at the age of 19 I got my own apartment in the city and started school.
I worked as a waitress in many restaurants to pay the rent and for my books. I eventually got my degree from University of Pennsylvania in Sociology.
After graduation I moved to Barcelona, Spain for a year and taught English in foreign language schools and studied Spanish. I toured Spain, France and Austria before returning to Philadelphia to work at various administrative jobs, bought and sold 2 houses during the housing bubble.
I discovered the dance classes I took in High School gave me flexibility and I was recruited to teach yoga in Philadelphia gyms.
I was a full time yoga teacher for 3 years, and was inspired by one of my yoga teachers to study marital arts with his master in San Francisco. I moved here 7 years ago to practice with the greatest martial arts master in the world. For the last 6 years I have been the Executive Assistant to Michael Blecker and Jennifer Stasch at Swords to Plowshares, while studying, yoga, martial arts, and Buddhist philosophy.
I love to write creatively, which was one of the only thing I exceeded in H.S. :) I hope to be free of my job long enough to seriously dedicate time to writing, books, short stories, screen plays.
I'm thinking the tragedy of the housing bubble with its millions of foreclosures an interesting opportunity for us "Gen Xers" to contemplate the possibility of profiting and securing our future in real estate, which is currently available at unreal prices in some areas.
Nothing stays the same - the real estate market can only go up from here. At least, it can't drop much further.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
