Reid Lofgran

After graduation from Springville High School I attended BYU and served a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taipei, Taiwan. I was married to Danielle MacArthur (Springville class of '87) in 1992. She graduated with her nursing degree in 1993, after also serving a mission in Taipei, Taiwan.

In 1994 we moved to Missouri for 2 years and attended Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. We had Tyler in Missouri, then moved to Trenton, Michigan, to continue medical training for the next 5 years. Samantha, Zachary, and Emily were all born in Trenton, just south of Detroit.

In 2001 we moved to Gooding, Idaho where I began practice as a family physician and an addiction medicine physician. Kaylee was born in 2004. Earlier that year a young man named Paul Sebastian began living with us during his junior year of high school, and became family.

In 2008 I became medical director of the Walker Center, a residential treatment program for drug and alcohol addiction. I gained dual board certification in family medicine and addiction medicine. Danielle and I work together treating addiction. We are currently building a network of outpatient addiction clinics throughout Southern Idaho.

In 2017 I published "Understanding Addiction: Perspective from a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints," intended to help fellow members of my church understand the concepts of addiction and recovery.

Due to numerous requests I revised the book for a general Christian audience. In 2018 I published "A Christian Approach to Understanding Addiction."

We continue to travel and speak, trying to help people understand addiction, and get rid of the stigma and stereotypes surrounding addiction. To do so we started the Addiction Education Foundation. Covid shut down our activity for a time, but we plan to return to our educational efforts.
