After OHS, I went to Weber State for three quarters, then spent 2 1/2 years in the North German Mission for the LDS Church, with headquarters in Hamburg. Upon returning, I graduated with BA in history (minors in Poli Sci and German)from Weber in 1969, and joined the USAF (so as not to be drafted). I worked as a German linguist in its Security Service, stationed in Berlin, Germany, for 3.5 years. I traveled all over German-speaking Europe, but have never been to Rome, Paris, London, or Madrid. Upon ending military service, I spent 3 years at the new BYU law school, graduating with the charter class. That's when I met my to-be wife: 7 weeks from first date to "I do!" It's worked so far. We have 3 daughters, 2 sons, 2 sons-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law0 four grandsons, wo granddaughters, 1 step granddaughter and 2 step grandsons (one plays football for U of Utah, Dave Rolf, #47, tight end). I have practiced law in Salt Lake City and Bountiful for 45 fun-filled years, and see no end in sight--although things at the office are dwindling (I don't want to get bored doing nothing). I miss the good ol' days in Ogden. I root for NY Yankees, JAZZ, Bountiful HS (and THAT was hard to get used to, believe me!), and BYU Cougars. I have not been back to Germany since the Air Force. Life, however, has been good--not perfect--but, good. My wife and I bought a new house with our younger son and his wife and family in Fruit Heights. We love our 2 1/2 year-old grandson and his new (7 month-old) sister. Had Covid--it was no fun. Had surgery to repair a broken hip. Need cataract surgery and hearing aids. Getting older is NOT for sissies!
