Gary Richardson

I remember so clearly when I left home for College. I knew that I wouldn’t ever be back. Not that I felt I was too good for what life had given me, I truly had been blessed. But I just for some reason didn’t like the feel of “dirt” under my feet. You probably don’t know this about me, but I never went bare footed and haven’t till this day. Can’t stand it.

Rheda and I went to our Church College, Bethany Nazarene College. I played on both the college tennis and basketball teams. I graduated in ’63 with a BA in Business. I was ready for the world. NOT.

Three years later, after working as an insurance adjustor, I enrolled in night classes to study law, finally graduating from law school in Houston, Texas in June ’72. During the entire time I was married with children and working full time and most of that time leading singing at a Baptist Church to help pay for the law school hours.

Probably the most satisfying job I have held during my professional career was that of United States Attorney, appointed by President Reagan. I served in this position for 4 years until the Democrats took over in ’85.

Lanna (one of Gods greatest blessings to me) and I have been married for 2 years. We have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. Next week the oldest will get her driver licenses. Both of my sons (Chuck and Chad ) are lawyers and my daughter, Chandra, is married to Dr. Matt Ford, a chiropractor. Chuck is the oldest and he and I are law partners in Richardson Richardson Boudreaux. A plaintiffs law firm with 10 lawyers.

I have spent the largest portion of my adulthood in a close walk with Christ even though being a lawyer by profession. I have served on Deacon boards, been a lay speaker, gospel singer and Sunday School teacher. There was an eleven year period that I wandered in the wilderness and He was so gracious to me, even during that time. I restored my walk with Christ in 1995 and since then have gone on to publish three books that are about the Christian life. Go to garyrichardsonspeaks.com. if you care to see the books.
