Today's Featured Biography
Sally Brown Jones
AFTER GRADUATION, I WENT OT NURSING SCHOOL IN TYLER, THEN WORKED AS A NURSE IN MINEOLA UNTIL MY MARRIAGE TO MARTY JONES (MHS '67 TOO) IN '69. I CONTINUED NURSING DURING OUR STAYS IN DENTON (MARTY'S PRE-MED) AND KANSAS CITY (MEDICAL SCHOOL) UNTIL OUR DAUGHTER, TRACI, WAS BORN '73. WE ENTERED THE NAVY, THEN WENT TO PHILADELPHIA, THEN BETHESDA (MARTY'S RESIDENCY). AFTER THAT, WE SPENT 2 YRS IN THE PHILIPPINES, WHERE WE GOT TO TRAVEL QUITE A BIT (HONG KONG, KOREA, JAPAN). WE ENDED OUR NAVY CAREER IN PENSACOLA, FLORIDA, THEN SPENT 5 YRS IN NEW ENGLAND, WHERE OUR DAUGHTER GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL. FINALLY, WE MOVED TO WASHINGTON, DC, WHERE MARTY WROKED FOR KAISER AND I WORKED AT THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART FOR 10 YRS. OUR DAUGHTER WENT TO ART SCHOOL AND IS AN ARTIST. WE HAVE LIVED ON CAPITOL HILL FOR THE PAST 22 YRS. MARTY RETIRED IN 2010. WE LOVE THE AREA--EVERYTHING IS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE (MUSEUMS, RESTAURANTS, SHOPPING) AND I HAVEN'T DRIVEN A CAR IN 10 YRS.
