Today's Featured Biography
Peggy (Jane) Terry Shows
After graduating from LHS, I attended Kilgore College and was a 1964 East Texas Baptist Univ. graduate. Later I received my Master's Degree in 1986 from the Univ. of Arkansas. I taught in elementary schools in TX, LA, AR, and MO. From 1975-1978, at Missouri State Univ., I was an Adjunct Lecturer and taught the first American Sign Language classes. In 1978, I was the Educational Interpreter for their first Deaf student. From 1980-1989 at the Univ. of AR, I was an Educational Interpreter. I was also an Adjunct Lecturer and taught in the interpreter training program. In 1976, I became a RID nationally certified interpreter. Currently, I am a Missouri Licensed Interpreter for the Deaf and continue to interpret in various settings. I retired in 2003, after teaching for 8 years at the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton, MO. I established ministries for the deaf in 2 churches. I also served as a ministries for the Deaf Director/Interpreter in various churches since 1969. I enjoy my church activities, reading, deep water aerobics, riding my vintage bicycle, gardening, piano, and have recently joined a woodcarving club!I's been a fulfilling life's journey with many more memories to make! I have been married to Bobby Shows for 45 years! He is an amazing Christian husband and friend. The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful family and exciting life since my days at Longview High School.
My family and I have made lasting memories in numerous states due to my husband's line of work. From 1964 to 1966, he was a high school basketball couch and teacher in Mississippi. Beginning in 1966 until 1993, he was a Minister of Recreation in Southern Baptist churches in Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri and Arkansas. In 1993, he was called to be a missionary with the Missouri Baptist Convention. In 1994, Bobby wounded the Sports Crusaders ministry. He served as President until retiring in 2008. (He's currently the Interim Director). Bobby earned a Master's Degree from Mississippi State in 1964. He was a MSU basketball player from 1959-1963. His team made NCAA Division One (SEC) history by breaking the racial barrier in Mississippi.
We are so proud of our children and grandchildren. Doug is married to Corinne and has one daughter (18) and a son (13). Doug is a NCAA Division One Basketball (SEC) Referee, and a financial planner. He earned his BS and Master's from the Univ. of Southern Mississippi. Corinne is a Radiology R.N. in Rome, BA. Their daughter, Jordan Ashley, just started her freshman year at USM. John is an excellent student and cross country runner. Our daughter Cynthia, has been married 15 years to Air Force Major Steve Walker. They live in St. Joseph, MO. She is active in leading ministries in her church, a fantastic homemaker, and substitute teacher. They have 2 sons (Cole - 11 and Caleb - 6). Cynthia is a 1995 William Jewell College graduate. Steve is a 1995 USAF Academy graduate and has his Master's degree from Northern CO. Cole is active in baseball, basketball and woodcarving. Caleb is also active in baseball and simply loves being outside, working in the woods, and playing in his tree house.
It is hard to sum up 50 years. Overall, I want my classmates of LHS to know the Lord has been gracious to me by giving me such a blessed marriage, family, friends and career.
Thank you for all the memories!

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
