I am what I call a "lifer" if there is such a word. I am one who graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School, work at Edcouch-Elsa High School, and live in Elsa. I have been teaching at the high school for thirteen years. I started my teaching career at Hidalgo High School and stayed there for six years. I have taught English and am currently an AVID teacher. This is a college readiness program that is geared for the "middle" kid with potential and success in more rigorous courses while preparing them for college. I am currently pursuing a masters degree in counseling and guidance with hopes of becoming a high school counselor, at E-E H.S. of course. I have the privilege of being a mother to two wonderful children. I say privilege because becoming a mother was not easy. My daughter, Miranda, is nine years old and in fourth grade. She never stops talking! My son, John David, is seven and truly a "mama's boy". I have been a single parent since 2003. Life has not always been easy, but it has made me the woman I am today. I am proud, work hard, and continue to wonder what I am going to be when I grow up.
I finally grew up! It is November 2013. I am now a counselor at Edcouch-Elsa H.S. My children are teenagers and life is good. I am blessed with good health, family, and faith.
