Today's Featured Biography
Terry McFarland
I attended the University of Tennessee with a major in Business without truly knowing what direction I should take. A few summers working at Disney World in Florida under their college program cleared that little dilemma up where I emphasized on hospitality management and graduated with a BA in 1993. In fact, I met my wife, Wendi, during those summer jobs as we worked various attractions together in the Magic Kingdom theme park.
Soon after college, Wendi and I married and I started working for Disney full-time, thinking that there couldn't be a much better career than one in eternal vacation. Well, I was wrong - I hated it - I learned that the only people I was ever dealing with were those that weren't happy (the happy ones have no reason to talk to managers).
I learned fairly quickly that I needed to return to my "strengths" in technology and Disney agreed. I moved to the world of Business Intelligence (within the company) where I provided data analytics to senior leaders in Finance, Marketing, and Sales.
With an underlying passion for visual arts, I went back and got a second degree in Computer Animation. I now lead a small group that provides Business Intelligence and Interactive Technology development for Disney Vacation Club.
That's the business side, the real important stuff revolves around my family. Wendi and I celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary in July of 2009, and we have two amazing girls, Sidney (1998) and Amber (2003). Whenever we can get our schedules to coincide (summers), you'll find us camping and hiking as much as possible - as far away from technology and theme parks as we can get.
