John Crowder

Retired after 50 years of employment as a biologist, administrator and consultant in the fields of government regulation ("Horrors!" gasp the right wingers.)environmental science and management. Worked for Fish & Wildlife Service, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Tennessee Valley Authority. Later, for 20 years, I was employed by two international environmental consulting and engineering firms.

Married 54 years to Linda Watson Crowder;She died on May 18,2016--Alzheimer's dementia. Two children and three grandchildren (ages boy 9, girl 20, and man/boy 23). Older daughter is chemistry and biology teacher in Cobb County, Georgia and coaches cross-country. Younger daughter recently left employment as attorney with the Equal Justice Initiative, a non-governmental public interest organization that does God's work in "visiting" those in prison who have been unjustly convicted and working for their release. She is no projects director for the Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham, a NGO that assists lower-income women to become financially independent.

I have been a deacon in our church for over 30 years and sometimes teach and preach. For the last 17 years, my major recreational interest has been fly fishing, mostly in the nearby tributaries of the Tennessee River.Spent 2 weeks in Montana and Wyoming in the Summer of 2017 fishing for wily trout. A lifelong Democrat, I have also been involved in local and state politics as a citizen-agitator, my most notable accomplishment having been to trigger the investigation that led to the removal of the corrupt REPUBLICAN Governor, Guy Hunt, from office. The latest Alabama governor to leave office short of a full second term is also a REPUBLICAN. His affair with a female assistant resulted in his resigning in disgrace. Pray that this state will not suffer through any more "family values" hypocrites in high office!

Though not anywhere near as notable in the "deep throat" business as Watergate's Mark Felt, I played a "leaker"/informant role in the famous snail darter/Tellico Dam controversy, covertly passing information from Interior Department and TVA sources to the attorney for plaintiffs who sued TVA in an effort to prevent the impoundment of the Little Tennessee River.
