Today's Featured Biography
Debbie Loftin Balagna
After graduation, tried college, well, tried the parties at college. Liked them very much but, with tuition and books, they were expensive. Worked in restaurants for 13 years, which, like dog years, are longer than regular years. I was in all levels of management, including corporate office in Kansas City for Perkins as a trainer and store opener. Got to travel and see the country, have an office with a view. Although I had some success, my life was a mess with bad relationships and drugs.
Many of you will remember my mom. Her health was rapidly declining in 1993. I moved her from Covington, TN to be with me in Kansas City to help manage her care. She passed away in 1995 at the age of 49. That was a turning point, a real wake-up call.
I gave my life to Jesus the next year and what a change! Free & clean for 12 years, and what joy He has brought to me. I am HAPPILY married to my best friend, Mark. I enjoy the privelege of being mom to 4 amazing kids, and everyday is an adventure and more fun than I ever had at a frat party! Here's a secret...being a Christian doesn't mean you can't have a good time.
We live in a giant, old Victorian that we are (s-l-o-w-l-y) remodeling in a small river town in Central Illinois. It reminds me a little of Munford and a little of Memphis. I get to use my talents and gifts every day as part of a church staff, do lots of volunteer work, lead a prayer group and my passion - sing in a praise band.
