Today's Featured Biography
Don Holloway
After High School I spent 12 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy. Then I completed my B.S. Degree in Child Development at San Diego State University and taught Pre-K for 6 years. I finally moved back to Knoxville in 1995 because my mother was in poor health and I wanted to be near her. My mom passed away on Nov. 2, 2012. My dad passed away on Jan. 18, 2013. I retired from Concord United Methodist Church in Farragut in Jan. 2012 after 16 years with the Housekeeping/Maintenance Department. From June 2012-July 2013, I worked as a Church Sexton for the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Knoxville. In Jan. 2014 I completely retired.
After my dad died, I brought his cat to live with me. I had never had a pet before. My kitty and I enjoyed several years together before she passed away on November 21, 2015. On May 7, 2016, I adopted a cat from Feral Feline Friends of East Tennessee. Her name is Stella. She was 4 years old when I adopted her. After 3½ years with her in my apartment, we left Knoxville and moved to Tazewell, TN on Oct. 31, 2019. We enjoy it up here. I just take one day at a time now, and I am open to whatever God leads me to do with the remainder of my life. I am thankful for each day, and for my family and friends. I have to say that life has been good to me.
