Today's Featured Biography
Jackie Hashbarger Logan
After graduation I spent the summer in Waltham, MA with a friend and her family. Returned in the fall and entered St. Mary's Practical Nurse Program, graduated from that program in 1966 and began my nursing career at St. Mary's Hospital. I married my first husband in 1967, moved to Ft. Benning,GA, and had my son that same year.We moved back to Clinton in 1968 and to Oak Ridge about 1971. My daughter was born in 1972 and I was divorced in 1974 (my first visit to the Ridenour Law firm). I worked for several years with Planned Parenthood in Oak Ridge and traveled to 10 East TN counties providing family planning services to their communities. I was a single parent, raising 2 children, working full time, going to Roane State evening classes and as I have read in some of what others have written, "it was some ride". I married my second husband in 1980 after having spent 5 years with him only to find myself divorced again in 1981. Hence my second visit to the Ridenour Law firm.
From there I have had several life changes. Left nursing after 13 years and tried retail as a manager of Golden Gallon stores in Clinton and Knoxville, promoted to District Mgr. for the Knoxville area, transfered to Atlanta,GA and Rome,GA.
Returned to Oak Ridge in 1988 and back to nursing for the next 10 years, 7 spent with the Family Clinic of Oak Ridge.
I moved to Knoxville in 1999 and opened an antique shop in Ft City in 2004 until 2008.
The down turn in the economy has not been very good to the antique business.
Now I work part-time in retail, sell Longaberger Baskets and keep my youngest grandaughter 2-3 days a week. Grandchildren are the best thing about getting old.
I consider myself lucky to be in good health and have every day to look forward to.
