Today's Featured Biography
Scott Lockwood
After graduating from CHS, I attended college for a few years at SDSU in Brookings. I didn't do too well academically but I sure had fun! I quit college in 1975 and worked a few months at Custer State Hospital and a few years at Gibson's Discount Center in Rapid City and Glendive, Montana. I went to work for the Chicago & North Western Railroad in the spring of 1977 and moved to Hot Springs shortly thereafter. While living in Hot Springs, I finished college at Chadron State College as well as continuing my employment with the railroad. I earned a degree in Business Administration with a minor in English. I was a much better student the second go-around. In 1992 I went to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a welder in Douglas, WY. I bought a house next door to a beautiful woman who became my wife a few years later. My wife, Barb, has a son - Chris - who lives in Albuquerque with our three grandsons. We lived in Douglas until 2005 when I was promoted and we were transferred to Gillette. While in Gillette, I was part of a team that oversaw the construction of 100 miles of new railroad track to facilitate our coal business. When that was done, I had a chance to relocate to Fort Worth, TX. We jumped at the opportunity and moved in 2009. I work in BNSF Corporate Headquarters planning and scheduling by B track repairs for a vast territory which basically runsfrom Billings, MT to Birmingham, AL. After 36 years of railroad work, I still enjoy it and look foward to going to work each day. I love living in Texas - it is like I lived here in a previous life - and eating good BBQ, grits and pecan pie!
Update:
I never thought my life would turn out this way. I retired from BNSF in April 2016 after 39 years working for the railroad. Although I planned to stay in Texas for the rest of my life, I got homesick for South Dakota. After 21 years of marriage, my wife became my ex-wife; I returned to South Dakota and she returned to Wyoming. I essentially failed at retirement, too, and found a part-time job as a Remarketing Driver for Enterprise - the car rental company. I basically drive three or four days each week to exciting destinations such as Billings, Bismarck, Casper, Mitchell, Scottsbluff, Valentine, etc. It gives me a lot of time to think - maybe too much time. I really enjoy my new job and especially being back in South Dakota with my family and friends.
Update:
After four years and 250,000 miles of driving, I quit my job with Enterprise in 2021 and said I would never work again. So far, I am sticking to that promise I made to myself. I keep busy by researching and writing about family geneology and South Dakota history. My step-grandson, Parker, graduates from West Point this Spring so I wll be driving to New York for graduation ceremonies! I am very excited!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
