Spent a career as a Navy Medical Corps Officer, with duty stations in Guantanamo Bay, San Diego, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Navy Environmental Health Center, and Joint Forces Command, retiring as a Captain in 2002. A few side trips to sea and to Fleet Hospital Five for Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm, as well as research in the Philippines helped round out my Navy experience. Was Director of Medical Services at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth for 4 years and Command Surgeon for Joint Task Force Civil Support at Joint Forces Command. After retirement from the Navy, I was the Medical Director for the STD/HIV Division of the Chicago Department of Public Health until we moved to Maryland; I was a Medical Officer for the EMMES Corporation, involved with multi-site infectious diseases trials, mostly with new vaccines, from 2004 until I retired in February 2015. Margan and I have 5 children between us and one grandson. My hobbies include photography, listening to classical music, and reading. We moved to Pasadena, California in April 2016, to be near to the grandchildren. We are enjoying SoCal immensely!
