Anne Fell Gauthier

Currently I serve on the city's mental health board. My calling as an addictions counselor came later in life, in 1990, and I love the work. I'm a licensed clinical counselor and certified in addiction counseling. The unhealthy addiction I have had is sweets!
I've always worked parttime, as did my mother Kathryn who retired at age 82. I expect to be fully retired long before then, however.

I have two grandchildren, Allie and Eric,in Jackson Hole, WY whose family intend to move to the midwest where I live in about two years. My daughter Erica and her husband want the children to grow up in a more heterogeneous environment. My daughter Kara and her husband in Seattle have two dogs. I have two step-children and a granddaughter on the east coast. So my husband and I fly a lot.

In 1987 I married George Gauthier. He is a dear. We cancel out each other's votes on election day. But I count myself lucky for the opportunity to look at all sides of burning issues, however irritating this may be at times.

The other significant fact about me is that, as was my grandfather Alfred in Shawnee OK, I am a dedicated walker, currently five miles a day. I love the bit circulating on the internet: "when she was 60, my grandmother started walking 5 miles per day and now we don't know where the heck she is!"

Among my aspirations are to someday find the time to grow a beautiful garden like my grandmother Jane Myrtle, to write the inspiring story of my grandmother Rosa's immigration from Switzerland, my mother's family first in going to college and her marriage to my father Bill, in whose memory city colleagues planted his favorite sugar maple trees, still growing down by the river in Tulsa.
