Today's Featured Biography
ROBERT McDONALD
After I graduated from PC, I went to work a numerous places, before I turned 21. I went back to school for 3 semesters. Then started working at Mr. Bill’s in Norman, where I saw a few of you. While working there, it got hard to make it to class in mornings, so I made a little detour.
After I left there, I worked was on staff on my state rep’s campaign committee, did some work setting up a non-profit for the mentally ill with my dad. After the elections in ’94, I went to work for my cousin in Dallas for year, and then I moved to Houston to help him open a second successful 59 Diner on Katy Freeway.
After being out of the state for 3 years, was ready to come back. I got hired with AOL when they first opened, that was a great place to work before they got to corporate. That is were I met my wonderful wife Lori in ’97. Got a offer to work as a desktop publisher for a local company, while there we had our identical twin boys Jacob & Joshua. I went to work for Sprint, health insurance was killing me, working at small business has it plus and minuses.
I finally got an interview with Tinker, got hired Aug ’02 in the Depaint Unit. To make a long story short, I sprayed chemical on aircraft to remove the paint, so mechanics could check for damage to the skin of the planes. Now I hold a position in the same unit, I am in charge of tracking the Hazardous Materials we use and insuring that the waste is handled properly to ship to contractors. Plus, I am the liaison of our unit to the EPA & ODEQ.
One of the most import things my father taught me was to give back to the community. I was appointed as a City of Moore Planning Commissioner in the spring of ’06 and confirmed in Aug ’06. Serving on the commission is very exciting. There is so much development in Moore we stay very busy. I also volunteer time to serve on committees at my boy’s school.
I will be graduating from MACU with Bachelors in Management in May ’08.
