I attended the Drafting Class at the trade school my junior and senior years of high school.
I enlisted in the Navy just after high school. I served six years in the nuclear submarine force. 4-1/2 years aboard the USS Will Rogers SSBN 659, I was a First Class Machinist Mate (Nuclear).
In 1973 I married Sandra Gragg. We had a son while I was still in the Navy, W. John (1975) I left the Navy in 1977 and took a job at Cincinnati Gas & Electric at their Wm H. Zimmer Plant in Clermont County. We had a small farm near Russellville in Brown County. We had our two daughters while we were in Ohio. Elizabeth (1978), and Stephanie (1979). We moved to Illinois in 1984 and have been here since, living in the same home in the small community of Stillman Valley, (Great academic school with a Great Football Program). I worked for Commonwealth Edison at the Byron Nuclear Plant until they merged with PECO in 2001 to form the present Exelon Company. I had worked in Nuclear Power for 31 years when I accepted an early retirement package in 2002. Since 2007, I have been working as a Safety Engineer for an aerospace company, Hamilton Sundstrand a subsidiary of United Technologies. Some of our other subsidiaries are Carrier, Sikorsky, Kidde Fire & Safety and Otis Elevators.
I finally finished my Bachelor degree last year, Thomas Edison State College Applied Science and Technology – Radiation Protection. As part of our celebration I took my wife to Hawaii.
My wife is Sandra “Gragg” Stout, attended Western High School. We have three children and we currently have four grandchildren Denali (2005), Matthew (2005) Ian (2006) Bryan (2008) with another on the way in August. Two of my children are married. My son is a Physician’s Assistant, he harvests veins for the cardiologists. My older daughter (not married yet) is an elementary teacher, grade 3 & 4, and our youngest daughter has a small hair salon and is a stay at home mom. Our children live within 45 minutes from us.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
