Today's Featured Biography

William McCroden

Left you all for Rocky River for my junior year and graduated there. Enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1965 and served four years in a foreign country- Michigan, finishing as an E-5 and office manager Attended B-W and obtained an AA in business from CCC West. Have worked for the VA regional office,the county, the IRS area office in Jacksonville, the VA again, officially retiring there and finally the county again but I'll be done at the end of 2015. Also lived two years in Salem, OR but things were so bad there I couldn't get a job- everybody was heading north from California. Main interest is military history, WW2 in Europe and have a manuscript that will be published any year now the publisher tells me. Also have a classic 2003 Miata which is my lifetime fun car and doesn't go out in the winter.

We are cat people though there's nothing wrong with dogs. Have three at present with a probable fourth (the donor) being added when one has to get his kidney transplant.

1964 is so far away now. Missed out on walking thru the old Butternut elementary because the last Sup't. of schools didn't even deign to answer my request before retiring. But I did walk the old NOHS (now the middle school) one last time this year at the pre-bond issue open house. Many changes but much is the same. I stood in Mrs. Livermore's old classroom (room 10) but it's all changed of course, and Mrs. Melick's old English room in the old wing. Shop area was gone- computer area now. And the library is moved to the first floor. The old cafeteria area is gone and is now a big atrium- but it's all irrelevant as the building is closed to the public pending demolition as of today 8-30-15.
The middle school has leased St. Richard's for a few years while the new combo school is being built.
