Stan Aten

Two weeks after graduation I moved to the North suburbs of Detroit (Sterling Hts.) and started working the rest of the summer at Volvo Automated Systems. That summer job turned into almost three years of employment. I decided to go back to school at Akron U. to study electronic technology. I eventually took a job in Canton Ohio with a manufacture named Redicon, doing electrical panel wiring. I left there to fill a management position with the King Nut Company out of Solon. I married in the fall of 1990 and had my first child (Tyler) in the summer of 1991. I packed up the family and moved back to Detroit, to the suburbs of Rochester Hills and took a position with my fathers newly formed business, American Solving Inc. (www.solvinginc.com). I had my second son (Ryan) in the summer of 1994. We acquired a machine shop in Brook Park Ohio and moved our operations back to the Cleveland area in the Spring of 1996. I’m still with American Solving Inc today and we operate out of the facility in Brook Park. When I first moved back into town, I moved into Solon for a year, before purchasing a house in Berea. Yes, I’m an Eastside transplant on the Westside and the area has started to grow on me. In 2000 I divorced after almost 10-years of marriage. I re-married in 2001. My spouse (Kathy) and I quickly had a beautiful baby daughter (Alexis) together and along with Kathy’s two kids (Tevon 13, Shannon 10)of the same ages as my two previous kids, we blended a Brady Bunch household that never allows for a dull moment. Today I can be found more entwined in little baseball then I ever dreamed imaginable. We own a summer place out in Marblehead Ohio and if we are not attending a sporting event for our kids, we’re hoping a plane to Vegas or skirting out to Marblehead. I seldom ever make it back to Mentor anymore. Hope this long winded story finds everyone in good health!
