	Lisa LaFalce

Lisa Marie LaFalce graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School, Wappingers Falls, New York in 1986. After several years of traveling domestically and abroad, she attended Hilbert College in Hamburg, New York, where she double majored in English Literature and Developmental Psychology, with a minor in Philosophy and was the recipient of numerous academic awards and scholarships. During her undergraduate studies, she was instrumental in the establishment of the Hilbert College Writing Center; acted as Editor-in-Chief, Art Editor, and Contributing Editor of Hilbert Horizons, the college’s literary magazine; and was a frequent contributor to the Hawk’s Eye View, the college’s newspaper. In 1995, she was the only undergraduate student to present a paper at the Annual Conference of the New York College English Association. In 1996, she graduated magna cum laude, earning a BA in English Language and Literature and a BS in Psychology. Upon graduation, she received a full-tuition academic scholarship to the Writing Program at Georgetown University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. During her graduate work at Georgetown, she acted as a student instructor of first- and second-year Writing Workshops and American Literature. In addition to these activities, she worked as a Writing Center Coordinator and as a tutor for ESL students and those with learning disabilities. Upon earning her master’s degree and graduating with high distinction, she became a freelance writer for Washington City Paper and Washington On Tap. Subsequently, she worked at the American Psychological Association (APA) as Senior Journal Editor; followed by the National Association of Social Workers as Managing Editor, Books and Journals; and finally at the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities as Director of Publications. Currently, she is a freelance editor for the APA (Journals and Books), Academic Press, Macmillan, Taylor & Francis, and Oxford University Press.
