Can't even come close to that.
After University of Bridgeport (journalism major) and then Boston University graduate school (journalism major), served in the Army as team leader of a five-man search-and-destroy and pacification team in Vietnam's wet Delta area.
Joined The Associated Press in NYC as an editor in 1970; left in 2000 after 10 years as vice-president and executive editor, overseeing global news operations of (at least then) about 2,500 reporters and editors. While executive editor, AP won two Pulitzers, Polk awards and others.
Joined Bloomberg News in 2000 at the invitation of the then-mayor as executive editor in charge of main feature writers, columnists, global training and hiring, photos and graphics.
Retired from there in 2012.
Raised my daughters Meredith and Morgan as a single father in NYC. Meredith is a social worker in Edinburgh, where she and her sister went to college. Her sister is with NOLS, the National Outdoor Leadership School.
Remarried in 2000 to Sheila, now executive creative director at Hearst magazines. Still live in Manhattan; still restoring a 225-year-old house in Washington, CT.; still writing and consulting as an editor.
