Today's Featured Biography
Al Feakins
After Graduating in '77, I worked for Mcnear excavating in Landing as a heavy equipment operator/truck driver.
In 1979 got hired as a police dispatcher in Hopatcong.
in 1986, got laid off and went to work for the Morris County sheriffs dept communications center. While there I met my wife, who worked for the Morris Plains police dept.
Went back to Hopatcong in '88, married in '89.
Moved up to Dingman twsp PA in '93 cause it was like Hopatcong was when I was growing up. Plus finding a 4 bedroom foreclosure for 50,000 made it so the wife could stay home with the kids while I commuted the 45 miles each way. (Big difference from the 1 mile I had.) I have to say its been worth it. I joined the local volunteer fire dept in 1994 and am still very active. As a bonus all 3 of my kids have now joined. The oldest Chad is going for fire police and is an EMS driver.Janine has completed Firefighter training and is a certified interior firefighter. Jason is currently a junior member and is going thru the training on the equipment and exterior operations..They even talked me into doing a firefighter calendar. At 53, I was surprised at the feedback..lol
I still work for Hopatcong as Senior Communications operator and also the dept I T guy. Keeping the dept computers and network up and running, both in the station and in the cars. Certainly a challenge at times.
My oldest son Chad, earned his Eagle Scout rank in 2009 and has graduated from Elizabethtown College in PA. Majoring in music and computer science. Currently employed with Atlantic Health as an MAV operator (mobility assistance vehicle)
Daughter Janine, has joined the US Navy as a reservist and completed her basic training at Great Lakes Ill, then MA training at San Antonio Tx, emerging as a military police officer. She graduated from Sussex with degree in Law enforcement and is currently employed as a corrections officer at the Pike County Correctional center here in PA..
Youngest Jason, is a HS senior this year, and is in the band and has been working 4 years at the beach in our community during the summer. Getting paid to tan.. lol He plans on the Marines after HS.
For those that remember the "library lady", mom is doing well, still lives in Hopatcong, and remains active in town and with the church. We just celebrated her 89th birthday this summer 2014.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
