Today's Featured Biography
Joseph Priester
OS1(SW) Joseph W. Priester
OS1 Priester is an east coast NAVET that did his sea tour onboard USS DETROIT AOE-4 from 1991-1994 and then USS RENTZ FFG-46 from Fall 2000 through Summer 2004 making port visits to Panama, Ecuador, Cuba, Mayport, FL and Portland Oregon attending the Portland Rose festival.
He holds NEC's for GCCS-M Watch Officer, Enlisted Tactical Application Course(ETAC) and Harpoon Weapons System AN/SWG-1A Engagement Planner which was instrumental in RENTZ's successful completion of its Cruise Missile Tactical Qualification.
He supervised and trained CIC watch-standers in surface operations and his efforts facilitated in the seizure of 1.5 tons of narcotics and the rescue of 145 migrants at sea.
At NAES Lakehurst, NJ he was involved in fourteen Command Indoctrination classes, twenty-one BMR training lectures, improving command advancement readiness by 60%.
OS1 Priester spearheaded the successful destruction of 130K lbs of Personally Identifiable Information(PII).
He was awarded the Gold Certificate for Outstanding Public Service while representing the Navy by speaking at Pine Beach Elementary School Career Day, volunteering at Ocean's Harbor House shelter as a mentor to sexually abused youth. He devoted 60 off-duty hours to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Ocean County, providing mentorship and guidance to help children become more confident, caring and productive members of the community.
He completed the Leadership Training Continuum(LTC), Alcohol and Drug Abuse for Managers and Supervisors(ADAMS), Environmental Management Systems Awareness, Radar Navigation, OS "C" School.
Petty Officer First Class Priester's hobbies are volleyball, party planning, traveling, movies, museums, reading he is currently stationed in San Diego, CA.
