Today's Featured Biography
Scott Osborn
After leaving FHS, I earned a BA in Physics at Grinnell College. However, by the time I graduated, I realized passion lay in working with people rather than particles. A volunteer position at a children's non-profit led to a counseling position, and I had found my calling.
Two intense and richly rewarding years on the job taught me plenty, but advancing in the field required an advanced degree, so I headed out to Berkeley to earn a Master's in Social Work. My wife and I met in school, and we tied the knot in '93. That same year, I began working as a therapist at a SF Bay Area non-profit serving youth and families experiencing serious emotional difficulties. Almost twenty years later, I still work with the same agency in my current role as division director in charge of school-based mental health programs.
Our first son, Marc, was born in '97, and Will came along in '00. We now devote a big chunk of our time to supporting and enjoying their sporting activities, including year-round soccer for both boys, plus spring baseball for Will.
My parents moved to Holdrege number of years ago, so when we visit Nebraska, we rarely get to Fremont. For one week each summer, I volunteer at the NASC Summer Leadership Workshop, which is now held in Wayne, NE. That workshop helped me grow so much as a person. I love taking my boys there each summer and seeing them reap the same benefits and making connections with teens from across the state.
I look forward to reconnecting with y'all at our reunion!
