Today's Featured Biography
Patricia Gearhart Woods
2023
WOW! It's been Sixty-One Years! I can't believe it's been that long, thst I'm still alive and that I'm still working. When I left off on my 50th bio, I said that I would retire upon leaving Gaza. Well, I didn't, I went on to teach another year in Kigali, Rwanda and to accept a position for the next year in Mongolia. Regrettably, I had to turn that down at the last minute due to moving complications.
In the end, I decided to return to Las Vegas, buy a house, begin teaching again, and working at the MGM. I have retired from teaching as of this December but continue working part-time as an usher at the various gigs on the Strip three or four times a week and taveling once or twice a year. Life is good! I look forward to seeing and catching up with all that will be able to make it to the reunion in June!
2012
Wow! Fifty years! Where did it all go? What have I been doing all those years?
Well, in a nut shell, after leaving good ole BHS, my life has been interesting to say the least. I have been married several times and divorced just as many. (Guess I am not lucky in love!) So I have remained single for the last thirty years with no regrets.
With my first husband, Larry Woods, I had two wonderful children (Mike and Terri). They have both grown up and are doing quite well - in spite of all my help. They have also given me three lovely grandchildren (Trey, Taylor, and Lindsey).
After my children were "raised" - are they really ever in our eyes - I decided to return to school and work on the college degree I had always wanted. I graduated in 1992 with a BA in Education and an MS in Learning Disabilities. (I must say here that this decision was the best one I have ever made.) My teaching degree has opened so many doors, given me opportunities to travel the world, meet many wonderful people, and enjoy many fantastic experiences.
After leaving college, I taught in Nebraska for a short while and then decided to move Las Vegas where I taught school until I took an international teaching position in 2009. At present, I am living in Cairo, Egypt, and loving it.
In December of 2011, I resigned my position at AISC and am now on my way to Gaza, Palestine, to fill a vacated teaching position at AISG until June. After that I plan on returning to the States for the summer before once again returning to Cairo in order to teach at least one more year before finally returning to Las Vegas and facing that dreadful word - retirement.
Hopefully, I will be home in time to attend at least one event at the reunion. If not, I want to say "Hi!" to all, hope everyone who is able to attend has a wonderful time, and wish all of you the very best life has to offer in the future.
P.S. If I don't make it, I plan on seeing all of you at the 60th!!!
