Chris Goodwyn
Christopher Fountain Goodwyn, 39, died of a pulmonary embolism on April 22, 2008. Born on January 17, 1969 in Raleigh, he was the son of George A. and Sally G. Goodwyn. Chris grew up in Tarboro, received his Eagle Scout in 1986 and graduated from Tarboro High School in 1987. In 1991, he graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Advertising. In 1994, he received a Master’s degree in Communications at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA. Chris was employed with RHDonnelley since 1995. During his years there, he held several positions. Primarily, he worked as a graphic designer and for a period of time he was a team leader of a graphics department.
Chris is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Kristen; mother, Sally; brother, Scott Goodwyn and wife, Charlotte, and their sons, Patrick and Daniel; sister, Caroline Overton and husband, Shep, and their son, Nathanael; sister, Sally Anne Thomas and husband, Rodney and their daughters, Gwyneth, Maryanne, and Samantha; uncle, William L. Goodwyn, Jr.; uncle, Arthur Goodwyn and wife, Irene, and their sons, Bill and Carson; uncle, Jerry Greene; mother-in-law, Edwina Kaeser; and brother-in-law, Matthew Kaeser and his daughters, Ashley, Alyssa, and Kelly.
He was preceded in death by his father, George; cousin, Arthur Goodwyn, Jr; and father-in-law, David Kaeser. He was also preceded in death by his beloved cat, Penelope.
Chris and Kristen were married on January 31, 1998 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cary. In 2005, they renewed their wedding vows at Diamond Head in Hawaii. Chris loved ASU football, especially beating Michigan. He was also an avid fan of the Carolina Panthers. Chris enjoyed the NC mountains, animals, music, and movies. He was such a joy to be around, always making people laugh. He was an incredibly loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
