Today's Featured Biography
Jamie Everhart Deis
After graduation from high school, I attended college at UNC Chapel Hill. I majored in Biology and Spanish and spent each summer traveling and working as a "summer intern" as a part of the Morehead program. In 1996, I traveled to San Jose Obrero in Paraguay where I worked as a health care volunteer for 2 mo and administered vaccines to kids. In 1997, I worked as a summer intern at Smith Kline Beecham pharmaceuticals in Philly where I met my husband Tom, and in 1998, I spent the summer in Spain where I learned a lot more Spanish and studied flamenco guitar at a flamenco school in Granada. After graduation from college, I attended medical school at UNC and decided to pursue a career in pediatrics. My husband and I moved to Nashville, TN where I am currently a 3rd year pediatric resident at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. I've just recently decided to train an additional 3 years to do a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Vanderbilt, so we'll be in Nashville for at least another 3 yrs. One day, I might actually stop going to class and get a real job :) My husband has been waiting for that now for the past 8 years. Tom works as a director of finance for CCA, and we live in a small town just outside of Nashville called Hermitage. No children of our own yet, but we do have a dog, Sierra, who's spoiled rotten. So great to hear from all of you. Tom and I plan on coming to the reunion in November. Hope to see you there!
