Today's Featured Biography
Anne Justine Maher Morris
After leaving Helias I attended the University of Missouri and received a degree in English. Upon graduation, when faced with the prospect of becoming a full-time working professional, I balked and quickly resumed my bohemian lifestyle of a professional student. I continued at Columbia College where I earned a second Bachelor's in art. Shortly thereafter I met my husband and in 1998 we were married and moved to Kansas City. Matt became the head brewer at a brewpub in Parkville, MO and I worked for a small direct marketing company in Overland Park. Being the wife of a brewer definitely had perks, like... well, you know, free beer. We soon discovered that the numerous parks and trails, the laid-back pace, great restaurants, diversity, and hippies that Columbia has to offer fitted more with our lifestyle, so we moved back in 2000. Matt traded his career in brewing for one in scientific research, and when our first daughter was born I decided to stay home full time. Today I play all day with the kids and eat an occasional bonbon while my husband works full time and pursues his Ph.D. I'm fairly sure I got the better end of the bargain. Once or twice a year we travel to Colorado to visit family and meet up with our friends Karen (Campbell Ronan) and Chris. (I'm convinced that repeated 12-hour road trips through Kansas with 2 small kids in tow will either strengthen or destroy a marriage!) Although we love living in Columbia, I still wait for the day when we can live in a fabulous and remote mountain home, ride our bikes everywhere, hike every day, and finish summiting all of Colorado's 14,000 ft. peaks.
