Today's Featured Biography
Carolyn Smith Moore
Married young to a great guy, and had two children before we parted ways in 1976. Was a single mother in Corvallis, Oregon for 13 years during which I bought a house at an auction for $400, moved it, built the foundation myself, and remodeled it over several years.
Concurrently, I had a number of manual labor jobs including construction, home insulation, logging, and eventually I worked as a career counselor assisting women to find non-traditional employment. At the same time, I received a MS in Counseling from Oregon State.
Eventually, I found a career as an administrator in Oregon State Government focusing on Program Development.
Met my current husband, William (Bill/Vassily) in 1984, moved to Washington State in 87 and married him February 29th, 1988. He's my best friend and I am so grateful to have had these years of adventures with him.
Together, we have gone hot air ballooning over the Puget Sound, scuba diving in the Aegean, white water rafting, soaked in Icelandic hot springs, seen northern lights, and Stonehenge. I have worked on a Neolithic archeological dig and walked the streets of antiquity in Malta, Morocco, Scotland, The Orkney Islands, Bruges, and most of central Europe.
We have built two houses, one near Olympia, Washington where we both had careers in State Government and one in Greece.
We were able to retire early (at 54) and now live on a small Greek Island, Antiparos. From my veranda I can see Mykonos to the north and Santorini to the south. I teach painting in the winter, and both paint and carve marble in my free time..
We travel often as Europe is really quite small and flights between countries are inexpensive. I'm always willing to share tips on European travel and to help anyone considering coming to Greece.
My children have grown up (as they do) and presented me with three grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren..
Won't be at the reunion, but hope that everyone has a terrific time..If anyone knows Elizabeth Paine, Paige Pruitt or Sheliah Beader, please tell them I'd love to be in touch!
