Today's Featured Biography
Marcia Smith Schroeder
In November of 1967 I married Skip Hesse. The following spring Wendy was born. Skip and I lived in Morris. I was lucky to be able to be a stay at home mom. However I did work part time at various jobs like the Sunwood Inn as a maid, the Morris Sun and Tribune as subscription and front desk receptionist and in the post office at UMM. Shayne was born on my 23rd birthday in 1972. He had some health problems but was a good natured, happy baby. Skip and I purchased a mobile home the spring of 1973 setting in on the Jerry and Lois Loher farm site close to the Morris airport. (Skip worked for Jerry. Jerry and Lois and all the kids became family. (They were Audrey Loher's parents) It was then I was able to get my very own horse, which grew to two and then three.....definitely the start of a life-long, love affair.
We purchased a farm site south of Alberta, just in time for Wendy to start 3rd grade in the Chokio Alberta School District. I still live on the same 6 acres with my husband Merle....and with my horses of course.
I was hired to be the Morris Airport Manager in 1976. While I worked at the airport, I attended UMM as a non-traditional student. I graduated with an English degree. Wendy was a freshman in high school when I was a freshman in college. We graduated in the spring of 1986. Wendy went on to get her college degree from Gustavus Adolphus. I taught English, Geography and speech at the Chokio Alberta High School for a couple for years. Shayne graduated from high school in 1991. That same summer an interesting position was created at Stevens Traverse Public Health. I decided to apply and was hired for the temporary, contract position. I still work for Public Health. Along the way, I was fortunate to qualify for a grant that paid for my registered nurse schooling. I graduated in 2005 and passed the boards. I love my nursing career with public health and am still working full time.
Skip and I divorced but still remain good friends, which many people find hard to understand. I married Merle Schroeder in 2008 and we live at the Sundance Ranch south of Alberta.
I have two of the greatest grand kids ever. Amelia Louise Boldenow (2001) and Charles Maxwell Boldenow (2004) Oh and son-in-law that's pretty cool too-Greg Boldenow. Shayne has worked at Willies Super Valu since August of 1991 and knows just about everyone in Stevens County!
I am very active at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alberta; presently serving as Council President and choir director. I still ride horse some; am in good health; close with my siblings; enjoy theatre; and have plans for doing some writing and research into my family history in years to come. Life is good.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
