Today's Featured Biography
George Domingo
I graduated from UMM in 1971. In July 1972 I moved to Michigan to take a job as an Investigator with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in Detroit.
I met Patsy when she came to work at FDA, and we were married in 1982. Patsy grew up in the house her grandfather built, located in Livonia, a Detroit suburb. When our second son was born we started looking for a bigger house, and ended up in Livonia, 5 miles from convenient Grandma/Grandpa babysitters. Our sons grew up in Livonia, and attended Michigan colleges. However, by 2013 both had returned to roost. Both had jobs in the vicinity, but it began to look like an “empty nest” was just a pipe dream.
Then our youngest, Kevin, met Sarah. They were married July 2016, and bought a house in Livonia, about 3 miles from us. A short time later a house across the street from Kevin and Sarah went up for sale, and Brian, our other son, bought it. So our house was emptied. July 2018 Norah, our first grandchild, was born. May 2020 her sister Harper was born. Patsy and Sarah's mother split babysitting during the school year. (Sarah is a schoolteacher.) July 2019 they bought a new house 1 mile from us. Meanwhile, Brian met Jen, and they were married August 2019. They bought a house 2 miles from us. Addison was born June 2021.
We both retired from FDA in 2011. Over the years my hobbies had included “buck skinning”. I’m too old and creaky to sleep on the ground any more, but from that I developed and interest in reading American history. Meanwhile, Patsy developed an interest in quilting. So now our vacations usually involve driving to some area I have recently read about and visiting historical sites and quilt shops (and microbreweries, where possible).
