Today's Featured Biography
Terry O'Brien
For almost 30 years, Ive been married to Cathie (Erickson Hopkins 63). Several years ago we moved to Stillwater For eight and half years we lived in Boulder, CO and prior to moving there, sixteen years in Deephaven and three in Edina, MN. We have a blended family of six children in the Twin City area, Boulder, Columbia MD and Orlando with a total of seven grand children so far.
After Hopkins, I received a BS degree from Macalester College, St Paul and a MBA from the University of Minnesota. My first job out of college was with what is now known as Ernst & Young, one of the original big eight, now four international accounting and consulting firms, where I obtained my CPA designation. Subsequent employment activities included Dayton Hudson Corporation (now Target), National Building Centers, and several entrepreneurial activities. The last fifteen years in MN I helped small business owners buy and sell companies (including a Michigan clock company for John Swon). In Boulder, I was the financial manager of an architectural planning, development and property management firm. In anticipation of retirement, I worked part-time the last couple of years and finally called it quits in March of this year.
Working part-time allowed us to pursue our love for travel for longer periods of time. During the winter of 08 and 09, we spent time in Thailand/Laos/Cambodia and Baja Mexico. This past winter we spent six weeks in Ecuador where we took Spanish classes in Cuenca, traveled to the Napo River in the rain forest and to Olon on the Pacific coast. We travel light overseas and a little heavier in the US with a small 17 travel trailer, hitting the national parks, forests and other nature oriented points of interest. We are very fortunate to be in good health and particularly enjoy hiking in the Colorado mountains and canoeing and camping in the Minnesota Boundary Waters and Canadas Quetico Provincial Park.
The first couple of months of retirement have been spent getting things fixed around the house that have been put off while working or traveling. We are looking at options of where and how we want to spend the next ten to twenty years.
Thank you Ken Kehr and the reunion committee for all the work you have spent in organizing the 50th its hard to believe it has been that long! See you at the reunion.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
