We have 5 1/2 grandchildren, a rescued German Shepherd, a rescued Chihuahua mix and a registered American Quarter Horse gelding, Moore Fancy Te, aka Te. Riding and teaching horsemanship and empathy for animals is very important to me. Te is one of my best friends, physical therapist, and teacher. Our spirits touch and his sweetness, kindheartedness, talent and beauty often nearly bring me to tears. We work in lower level dressage and take a break with trail rides.
Some of my favorite things are reading, teaching children, singing (mezzo soprano), opera, having fun with husband, travel, architectual history (restored a Victorian home in Minneapolis to it's former glory),
riding and showing in dressage, composing music, playing the organ, sewing, knitting, humor and helping animals who are neglected or abused and agencies that do the same.
Four of my grandchildren and my daugthter Lisa live in KY and my daughter Bethany and grandson Henry (3) live in Minnepolis. Her husband is a veterinarian. I give Henry riding lessons on Te.
Any others who are horse/animal lovers?
After being a LPN and working with developmentally disabled and mentally ill people in group homes I left nursing and did foster care for infants who were born to addicts. We had two babies at different times. After that I finally began my lifelong desire to work with and own horses. I feel so blessed with a wonderful family, horses and love to give.
Some of my old friends might remember my first name is Annalise, for my great Aunt from Denmark. I always went by my middle name, Gail, because years ago immigrants like my mother were made fun of for not being "real Americans". I am proud of my Danish/Swedish ancestry. Appelgren means branch of the apple or orange tree.
