Marla Jean Olson Alstead

As you may remember I married Jerry, a first year teacher and coach at Annandale. We’ve been married for 48 years. I attended Minnesota School of Business and worked for insurance companies, Honeywell, our church and was a stay-at-home-mom once our kids came along. For the past 25 years Jerry and I have been top real estate agents with Roger Fazendin Realtors in Wayzata. We sell houses all over the Twin Cities area. I’ve even sold houses in Annandale and South Haven. I have been involved in fund raising for Children’s Hospital and had been the “Team Mom” for nearly all of our kids’ sports teams from youth through high school and college. I was the first woman elected to the Wayzata Youth Hockey Board. Sports have pretty much been our life as our kids were multi-sport athletes in youth and at Wayzata High School. We attended nearly every game and lots of practices and Jerry coached several teams. We had the distinction of having three high school All-State athletes and team captains, each in a different sport – Ryan as a football quarterback, Brady as a hockey goalie, and Tiffany as a soccer midfielder. Each went on to excel in college as captains and all-conference players. Brady was a two-time college All-American goalie and played two years of professional hockey. Over the years Jerry has become an avid sports photographer and has taken thousands of photos of our kids and their teammates. We now have seven grandchildren, five boys and 2 girls, ages 8 1/2, 8 1/2, 7, 7, 6, 5, 2. They are extremely busy in multi-sports and activities, and their Dads are coaches. We are blessed to have our families close by in Plymouth, so we seldom miss anything. We have taken one day every week to have all the Grandkids at our house – most days we have four to seven kids and have lots of busy activities. We have done considerable traveling over the years and love to spend time at our daughter and son-in-law’s cabin in Battle Lake. We enjoy attending Twins, Vikings and Gopher football and hockey games and spending time with our family in activities at the Wayzata Country Club. We are not slowing down one bit, in fact we are picking up speed. We take pride in “outperforming” most other real estate agents in the Twin Cities and in doing a great job for our clients. Between real estate and our kids and grandkids – that’s pretty much our life. We see each day as a blessing and try to stay healthy and live life to the fullest!
