Currently living on 20 acres in a cabin in rural Whatcom County Washington with my partner, Alison, of 10 plus years with 2 dogs, 2 cats and a dozen or so chickens.
My kids are doing their own thing in southern Washington and Oregon and I have (much o my surprise) 3 grandchildren.
Spending 2 1/2 years of my Army experience in Bangkok Thailand changed my life. It was the first of many major events in my life that occurred solely by chance or circumstance totally beyond my control.
My eagerness to learn more about Asia resulted in years of study and brought me out to Seattle where I completed a masters in Chinese language and history.
I retired early from working at The Social Security Administration where I held various positions including Assistant District Manager in Bellingham WA. My greatest joy was working for and with the public.
Along with an annual trip to Kauai most of my time is spent outdoors interacting with the beautiful surroundings here in the Great Pacific Northwest and in Ormond by the Sea in Florida. From home repair to building little houses, gardening and firewood cutting my days are full of projects.
Boogie boarding in the summer and snow boarding in the winter, along with ultra running year round help me keep active. Our Rim to Rim in a day run/hike down and up the Grand Canyon two years ago was one of my most memorable adventures.
Being a cancer survivor I am most grateful to be living in this age of modern medicine and continue to be humbled and awe struck by Nature from one moment to the next.
