Today's Featured Biography
Thomas Reuter
After graduation I was able to find a job doing a combination of inventory control and truck driving for Moote Electrical in Pontiac. They’re an electrical construction contractor doing commercial and industrial work. I did the driving and inventory control for 4 years and then the owners invited me to work in the office doing payables and receivables work. I found working in the office where it’s cool in the summer and warm in the winter to be much better than truck driving and I liked the work. I continued with this work until the current office manager retired and I took his place. Moote Electric is a great company to work for and I was eventually promoted to Corporation Secretary and given my own private office.
Over the years of working for Moote I took various night school courses to improve my general knowledge and office skills. I took courses at Lawrence Tech., Cass Tech. in Detroit, Oakland University, Pontiac Business School, and others. I got a Commercial Pilots license for flying hot air balloons and I met my wife Sally through the sport of ballooning. I didn’t get married until I was 39 in 1980. We don’t have any children, as that is something we both agreed we didn’t need. It took me a long time to get married but my marriage to Sally has been a good and happy one
After graduation I lived in Pontiac for the next 26 years and then moved to Lake Orion where I have lived for 21 years and am currently living. A few years after leaving school I found I had to report for my military draft physical. The military doctors found I had a very small medical problem and it kept me out of the military service and I never had to go to Vietnam as so many others did at that time. My health has been very good over the years and continues to be good today.
After working for Moote Electric for 41 years, and rising from truck driver to office manager and Corporation Secretary, I thought it was time I retired. Working for Moote was the one and only job I have had in my life. Not many people have had only one job in their entire life. I was suffering from job-burnout and continuing on the job would be risking my physical and mental health. I retired at age 59 in 2000 and retirement has been wonderful.
In retirement, every minute of the day is mine to do whatever I want and I am enjoying every minute. I do woodworking, photography, play with my computer, and travel when I want to. My health is good, my marriage is good, I had a good job, retirement is good, I’m happy, what else could a person ask for.
As of 2017 I have completed 10 years of volunteer service with the Orion Township Public Library. I have always loved books and this gives me a chance to see many more than I normally would. I have survived cancer that was found in 2013 and my checkups now show the cancer is gone. My health and finances are good and I'm happy. God has been good to me.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
