Following graduation I worked at the Peoples Bank in Grand Haven for three years. In January 1970, I married Chuck Rowell, who was employed at Detroit Edison Company as a service planner. We moved to Westland, MI, where I was employed at Livonia National Bank, until our daughter Heather was born in 1973. Our son Matthew was born in 1974. In 1978 we moved to Canton, MI.
Our family enjoyed many camping trips in Michigan, vacationing in Florida, and a car trip across the states to California, staying at some of the National Parks. In 1985 I was employed at John N. Santeiu Funeral Home doing a variety of different things. One of the interesting tasks I did was to put cremated remains into various containers including urns, necklaces, and once even a Jack Daniel’s bottle.I retired in 2012.
Chuck came out of retirement in 2013 to work on the project to re-light the streets of Detroit and finished his design work in 2016. We are active in our church (Grace – Canton, RCA). I served as an Elder, sang on the Praise Team, and serve now on the Greeting Team.
We have 1 granddaughter, Kaitlyn (20) who is a Junior at Michigan State University. We celebrated with our son and his wife at their wedding in 2019.
I have enjoyed playing volleyball for over 37 years, playing cards with my 8 crazy friends, gardening, and reading. In our retirement, we traveled to Hawaii, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Peru, Alaska, Ireland, and Disney. Praise God for blessings in abundance!
