After a memorable sophomore year at WMCH our family moved to New Jersey where I completed my junior/senior year at Eastern Christian High School. Four years at Calvin followed and upon graduation my wonderful wife Eileen (Klop), a Calvin student from Kalamazoo, and I headed off to the San Francisco bay area. It was there that we started our life together, made friends, and developed our careers, she in preschool education and myself in the world of retail display and design.
Our family grew in California with the birth of our sons, Rob (1975) and Scott (1978). Priorities changed as we turned our focus on raising the boys, with Eileen working at home while I continued my work in retail with stores throughout the bay area. California was home for 21 years until Michigan beckoned in 1991 and we moved back, settling in the city of Grand Haven along the lakeshore near Grand Rapids.
Grand Haven brought new opportunities, with the boys continuing their schooling, graduating, and pursuing careers, Scott in Culinary school and Rob coming to work for me in my free lance visual merchandising and design business. Scott continued on, working at a number of restaurants in the area, culminating in the role of executive chef for a downtown Grand Rapids restaurant. Rob worked in the retail visual business after which he returned to school for an engineering degree and is presently a product design engineer for a company in Grand Rapids. He is married to Margaret (Nawara) and they have a wonderful nine year old daughter, Wealthy Claire.
In 2002 Eileen and I moved to Winter Garden, Florida where we lived for five years, Eileen working for a family as a nanny and housekeeper and myself employed by The HolyLand Experience theme park doing display and venue design. A return to Michigan in 2007 brought us once again to Grand Haven where I restarted my freelance retail design business and Eileen provided companion care for her mom in our home until she passed away at the age of 97.
At present I’m still self employed in design as well as doing music, playing guitar in a church praise team and performing with an acoustic duo called Acoustic Oasis. Eileen collects vintage linens, sewing accessories, and quilts for her booth at a local antique mall and for sale at the Allegan Antique Market. She also enjoys spending as much time as she can with our granddaughter.
Reading the online classmate biographies has brought back many great memories of Western Michigan Christian, and a reminder of the incredible impact, both educationally and spiritually, the teachers and students of the school have had on my life.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
